Andy
Kay has spent twenty-five years as
a leader in the non-profit youth sector,
working hands-on in youth work, fundraising,
communications, and senior leadership
roles in a number of organisations
in Australia.
Andy has been described as one of
Australia's most remarkable and entrepreneurial
individuals working in the youth sector.
He has advised the Prime Minister
on youth policy and developed numerous
national programs and campaigns promoting
the health and well being of young
people.
He was educated in the United States
and at Monash University in Melbourne,
and has also spent a number of years
working as an electrician.
Andy was awarded Victoria of the
Year in 1998 for his contributions
and ongoing service to the Victorian
community.
Much of Andy's inspiration comes
from his wife of twenty years Tracy,
and his four wonderful children.
Prior to joining Typo Station in
late 2003, Andy was CEO of national
youth suicide prevention organisation,
Here for Life. Under Andy's leadership,
Here for Life operated successfully
at a national level and helped thousands
of young people through difficult
times.
Andy brought to Station a passionate
vision to continue and develop the
positive outcomes being experienced
by 85% of the young men that Typo
Station works with.
In the past two years, Typo Station
has doubled the number of young people
it works with. Increasingly, the programs
it offers are being seen in the youth
sector as a beacon for early intervention
approaches with young men.
