Neurosurgical Research Foundation Susan - Brain Haemorrhage Survivor
Susan and her family

Susan was 11 years old and at school when she suddenly had a massive headache.

Her condition deteiriated rapidly. When her father came to collect her, she was vomiting and finally lapsed into coma.

Susan was taken straight to the Women's and Children's Hospital where it was found she was having a haemorrhage in the brain.

Life-Saving neurosurgery was performed to remove a clot and later, to treat the source of the bleeding.

Susan has gone on to become a teacher and have two beautiful and healthy children.

"Having had such a frightful experience so close to adolescence, I was never really tempted by any of the hazards available to teenagers. I was too anxious to preserve the precious gift of life to take unnecessary risks - and I still am." Susan.

Neurosurgical advances in techniques and knowledge are saving more lives.
Research funded by the NRF is helping to achieve these advances.

Susan is helping recruit schools and companies to have fun this April and to host a "Favourites" Morning Tea or "Favourites" Casual Day and asking them to take a Gold Coin Collection to raise money for neurosurgical life-saving research.

This luck family only exists today because Susan's life was saved through neurosurgery and Kate and Tom are asking everyone to take part, raise money and help save more lives of the future.
