Beth
Walker is currently the Chief Executive
Officer of TEAM Health, (www.teamhealth.asn.au)
the Top End Association for Mental Health.
TEAM Health is a dynamic medium sized non-government
organisation based in Darwin that provides
a wide range services to people with a mental
illness in the Top End of the Northern Territory.
TEAM Health's services for people who have
a mental health issue include providing
information, referral to other services,
accommodation options, practical life-skills
rehabilitation and practical support with
activities such as banking, shopping and
accessing other services. The association
also has aged care packages for older people
with a mental illness who are living in
the community. The association also promotes
community awareness of mental health and
October each year coordinates Mental Health
Week in Darwin. Most recently TEAM Health
has commenced providing family support to
families where a parent has a mental illness.
Beth is a community welfare worker and
has since undertaken postgraduate studies
in social housing management and business
management. She has a keen interest in mental
health promotion, child and adolescent mental
health, indigenous mental health issues,
improving health service accessibility for
people in rural and remote areas and the
development of a comprehensive range of
innovative mental health services for people
in the Northern Territory.
