Inspire Celebrates 10 Years And Launches New Website

Inspire celebrated its 10th birthday on 22nd November at the Studio Theatre, Sydney Opera House. Our supporters, young people and staff joined forces to present a theatre-style show entitled '10 Inspiring Moments'.

The show featured the following 10 Acts:

  • A personal reflection by Jack Heath, Founder and Executive Director, on the first 10 years of Inspire

  • A speech by Daniel Petre who, during his time at Microsoft, provided the first seed funding for Inspire in 1995

  • A live enactment of one person's journey through Reach Out! by Youth Ambassador Nathan Berton (who had promised to throw in an impromptu interpretative dance...but alas, no!)

  • An address by Warwick Smith, Patron of Inspire and Executive Director of Macquarie Bank

  • A video showing young people 'getting a life' through the technology on offer via our Beanbag program, with original beautiful music composed by Inspire's own Lucia Barrera

  • An address by Inspire Patron-in-Chief, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir

  • A glimpse into the news of the future – how taking action on issues we care about will influence the look of the world in 2031 - that's if the young people of ActNow have their way!

  • A further speech by Jack Heath talking about future plans for Inspire including: the development of a ReachOut! program for the US; the resignation of Paul Gilding as Chairman of the Inspire Board after three years in the role, and the appointment of Board Member Mark Mentha as his replacement.

  • A live version of "My Inspiration", written and performed by Mark Townley and inspired by his involvement with Reach Out!

  • Releasing 10 balloons into the night, 10 young people shared their dreams for the future with us.
