ASTHMA

Ask Your Pharmacist

Asthma affects more than two million Australians: 25% of children, 15% of teenagers and 10% of adults. At present the cause of asthma is not known and there is no cure. However, it is one of the most common problems managed by doctors.

Severe, uncontrolled asthma can have fatal consequences but there are ways to control asthma. Your GP and pharmacist can help you to manage your asthma and use your medicines effectively.

Your pharmacist can also explain the difference between your preventer and reliever inhalers and when and how you should use them. If you use an asthma inhaler, check with your pharmacist that you are using it correctly. It is surprising how many people do not, and therefore are not getting the maximum benefits.
