Business people often wish to reach agreement on a handshake.
It is possible to do this but it is necessary, in these circumstances, to make sure that all of the terms of the bargain are covered in the conversation and that it is clear between the parties doing the deal that they intend to be immediately bound by the terms of the agreement.
If it is intended to do a document later on, the document must not be different to the terms that were agreed at the time of the handshake.
In some circumstances it is necessary to have a written agreement, for example, if the agreement is a contract relating to land.
